DEPARTMENT PROFILE
The Department of Economics was established in 1968 and is as old as Dr. V.S. Krishna Govt. Degree College itself. The department Offered B.A. HEP (History, Economics and Political Science) programme till the academic year 2019-20. From 2020-21 academic year, B.A. Economics programme was introduced in the college. As a part of the programme many new courses were introduced to the students. Mathematical Methods for Economics and Statistical Methods for Economics courses were introduced. In the academic year 2023-24, with the initiative of APSCHE and APCCE, B.A Hons in Economics programme was introduced. Presently there are 3 Regular faculty and 2 Guest faculty are working the department of Economics.
Programmes offered:
The department is offering Minor Course to the students of B.A. Hons with Political Science programme. In addition to the above, the department of Economics offers a value added course in Indian Public Finance to the interested students from the academic year 2021—22.

Mission
The department is committed to generate interest in the subject of Economics among students by imparting sound theoretical knowledge and developing quantitative skills to analyse economic behaviour. We are engaged in creating responsible citizens with critical thinking, right human values and attitude.
