Profile of the Department of History

 

The department of History is one of the department started in 1968 that is ever since from the inspection of the college. To begin with, it  was a composite College offering instruction both for intermediate and degree courses in the Arts, Commerce and Science.

 Objectives

   The main objective of the department is to provide a good knowledge to the students to enable them to go for higher education and also prepare the students for  all competitive examinations. Besides that, the study of History helps the students in constructing social relations with the community and making them good and useful citizens of our country.

Course Combinations Offered

 The college offers the following courses of study along with History keeping in view the importance being attached to the subject in all India, State and Banking service examinations.

  • History, Political Science and Economics 

  • History, Political Science and Special English.

  • The department started a Value Added Course in 'Indian National Movement' from the academic year 2021-22 aiming to impart knowledge to the students of all groups of the College.

 

Design of Syllabus

From 1968 to 2011 the syllabi of History was designed by Andhra University, Waltair. As the college was conferred Autonomous status in the year 2011, the Department designed its own  syllabi from 2011 - 12 academic year and reviewed it periodically to suit the needs of the students.

Activities of the Department

The  department is conducting various activities to give practical experience to the students which include field trips to various historical places, seminars, guest lectures, poster presentations etc.
